Would definitely recommend Smith & West for any high net worth individuals looking for accounting services in Ottawa. Please be careful of this accountant.
Before I hired Marc he did give me an estimate of around $5000-$6000 which I agreed and after he finished my corporate taxes without giving me any heads-up that his work will be more than what he quoted me he just send me an invoice with $12,000 and he went and charged my visa which he kept in file without my permission. This is not my first time to do my corporation taxes and used to do it with $5000 with the same book keeping using quickbooks online. I tried to contact you by email to change the invoice to the amount we agreed about before doing my taxes but you kept sending emails with hours which we didn’t discuss that you will charge me per hour extra on top of the $5000-$6000.
You lost me as a client and I wil get my money back that you took from my visa without my permission.
They have all of you bank information and they take advantage of you.
Please be careful of this accountant.

I did file a dispute with my bank for the amount they charged my visa card $ 12,000 and the bank refuned me the amount of $7000 in November and then smith and west professional corporation charged my visa card again without my permission another &7000. They are fraud fraud fraud. I can't believe what they are doing. Stay away from them. I will call my bank again so they can deal with fraud and if they don't stop I will take a legal action against them.

Shane, one of the CPAs at the firm, is excellent. He's been able to work my taxes for the last 3 years. As some who is self employed, taxes get complicated, Shane knows his way around this stuff. Highly recommend

Have been a loyal client for years. Unfortunately recent service has been terrible. No follow ups to my concerns. Charge a lot for personal income taxes.
