We loved our time at the Shaftesbury Inn and certainly plan to return. Our room was clean, spacious and included everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent ; we especially enjoyed the French toast. Angela is a wonderful host and we really appreciated her recommendations for activities while on the island. The quiet location and lovely garden behind the Inn were also features that we enjoyed.

Had the best stay at the Shaftesbury! We needed a last minute place to stay and Angela was there to save the day! The rooms were super clean and cozy and the breakfast was excellent! Only a 1-2 min walk to stores/restaurants in town. Wouldn't recommend anywhere else when in Little Current!

Ossie, the Innkeeper, greets her guests warmly and answers any questions asked of her. She guided us to many of the special sites around the island and suggested fun activities. Her breakfasts are superb, ordered from her menu. We had dinner in her dining room one night and wished we would have eaten there more often. Ossie is a wonderful host and we were happy to stay there. However, the Inn is not a Boutique Hotel. It is an Inn that's decor is very similar to a lakeside resort.

The Shaftesbury was a great place to stay during the Christmas holidays. The decor was warm and cosy with an old fashioned Christmas feel. Great place to unwind after a long trip from Hong Kong.||Meals prepared by Ossie and her mother were great. The rooms were well kept and spacious. Undoubtedly one of the top places to stay on the island.||Combines the feel of a Bed and Breakfast, but with a little bit more.||Would definitely stay again!

We almost missed this property since Tripadvisor lists it under "B&B/Inn" not "hotel". I'm glad we found it, though. The Tripadvisor reviewer who says that the nomenclature "boutique hotel" is misleading is probably right, but "hotel" works, and it's a charming, comfortable, elegantly conceived accommodation in an attractive setting on a quiet street just outside the town centre. About twenty years ago the owners took an abandoned and decrepit but historically interesting hotel and completely fixed it up. This proved more difficult than they imagined because of the obstructions of town bureaucrats, but now, years later, the result is attractive and welcoming. Our rooms were of average size but with a generous walk-in closet and a comfortably large bathroom. The rooms and entire building were completely clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. We felt there was some unrealized potential in what might have been done with the decor. The owner/manager, Ossie, was gracious, accommodating, and friendly, and we agree with the reviewer who said that she makes you feel at home. Now, what's not so easy to discover on the Internet, or in the regional tourist literature, or by driving past, is that there's a super dining room here. We had entrées of organic lake trout perfectly baked, with potatoes and vegetables, in addition to a first course, for a quite reasonable $34 inclusive of service. This was just a really fine meal, and well beyond anything we might have expected in such a small and, with respect, unprepossessing town. An excellent breakfast, with a choice from four possibilities, was included in the price of the room.

The Inn is centrally located, within walking distance to everything in Little Current.||Our suite was perfect, lots of room to spread out and relax at the end of the day. ||Angela is a gracious host, she really made our stay wonderful. ||Breakfast is included, very tasty with 5 or 6 options to pick from.||We had dinner both nights at the Inn, it was like visiting Oma's house again. ||We had the schnitzel, whitefish and goulash, all were delicious! Special treat of spaetzle and strudel which were awesome! ||Looking forward to returning again.

As other reviewers have commented, you do get a very friendly welcome from Ossie, who makes you feel at home immediately. Dining is an interesting and enjoyable experience, with an emphasis on middle European dishes, as befits Ossie's family connections, but local, wild trout and whitefish sit happily alongside Wienerschnitzel and goulash on the short menu. Breakfasts are hearty and set you up for the day. Ossie is an engaging host and will tell you (and show you) a lot about the history of the Inn, if you are willing to listen.
