I had a terrible experience in this store yesterday as I was verbally abused, harassed and bullied by another customer - an older man - because he was behind me in line at the FedEx counter and didn't want to wait -16 days before Christmas and during a mail strike. Not entirely sure what his expectation was but I did everything I could to make the transaction go faster. If it was slow, blame the FedEx guy. In the meanwhile, neither of the associates that I was dealing with bothered to say anything to the offending customer. I left the location feeling uncomfortable and scared. I took down the license plate of the customer and have filed a report. The fact that the staff said nothing to the customer is horrible. I suspect that if he was bullying staff, he would have been kicked out but I guess it's okay for him to bully other customers.

Brought my laptop in for repair, and got it back in worse condition that when I dropped it off, the tech guy damaged my screen to the monitor and the plastic casing that goes around it. It was originally a broken hinge that I brought it in for, the computer and monitor still work, but they cracked the screen to my monitor (damaged it).

I dealt with Dustin and he said Rob does the repairs. I came in last Friday, they did explain the repair guy Rob would be in on Monday. I dropped the laptop off. I was hoping to hear from them Monday (this is my work computer), and nothing. By the afternoon I had to call the store. They explained Rob was out sick. They don't know when he will be back. This created confusion in my mind, like when will it get fixed? Then today Tuesday still nothing from them, so I had to go in and grab my computer. They said they did look at it and can't fix it. When I got the laptop home someone had pulled the plastic faceplate off of my screen and damaged the screen to the monitor part, and the plastic faceplate.

When I picked up the laptop, I believe it may have been Dustin (young man at the counter), I expressed my dissatisfaction with the lack of communication and lack of customer service. Instead of listening to me as a customer he began to argue with me and try to gas light me like I am some kind of an idiot by saying "I told you no one was here Friday." I responded "Ya but on Monday I had to find out what is going on with my repair, and informed that the guy isn't in, then today still no one can tell me what is going on, I have to come in." You never argue with a customer. If you can't fix the laptop, you don't return it to the customer with more damage. None of the staff offered to get a manager to resolve the issue either. Now my computer is damaged even more. I will be taking this up with the owner.

---Update October 11, 2024---
The laptop was placed in a box to keep it safe during transport to the repair facility. The hinge was the only issue with the laptop. The question for the repair facility was "Can the hinge be fixed?" Not "Can you break my laptop?"

It's not a cheap $400 Acer from back in 2008. It is a Dell G3 Gaming laptop. It worked fine for me, for my work. The screen was not damaged when I left it at the business. The owner has also acknowledged in his response that the tech removed the bezel (may I also add the tech separated it from adhesive, and the screen, and left it lose) that goes around the screen, thus and now a damaged screen. Please see the pictures. No one asked the tech to do that, or damage the screen. The tech shouldn't have returned the laptop to the customer with bezel lose, and pulled away from the adhesive. If the business was worried they may damage the screen removing the bezel, they could have declined it all together. They didn't. It could also be a possibility that the tech didn't realize when they were messing with the bezel that they damaged the screen.

No one from the owners company called me to tell me to pick up the laptop. After dealing with a lack of communication from the repair department, I went in myself and picked the computer up on my own. No one at the repair department told me the screen was damaged when I picked it up.

IMO, I must say I find the owners response lacks a focus on customer service. Especially if you look at the last part of his response to me "Parks West review of customer: 1-Star." I can't say in my years of experience doing customer service that I would ever speak to a customer like that, especially after damaging their property. My approach would be to see if I could turn a 1 star review into a 5 star review.

Now the good news, I did have a good civilized conversation with the store manager today. I sent him pics of the laptop and we agreed to revisit the matter after the Holiday. I am hoping we can reach a positive resolution to the matter.

-Update October 26, 2024 -
They are still refusing to pay for the damage, I will be taking them to BC Small Claims Court.

Customer here for over 10 years. Spent 1000s of dollars here. Was treated super rude by a lady in the print station over the phone. So rude that I just hung up. Nice knowing you guys.

We recently used Parkswest print shop. The staff were informative and friendly. The team put together a layout design that was very nice. The cards were ready ahead of schedule, affordable, and looked wonderful. I highly recommend this business.

The BEST team - Kevin, Fiona, Elaine, Tom and everyone who works here goes above and beyond and always does it with a smile. I also LOVE the self-serve area for the ease and ability to do simple jobs on my own and it’s also a wonderful place to shop for unique gifts, office supplies, greeting cards and stationery. They also have a technology area and can fix computers!!

I highly recommend this print shop if you’re in Oceanside. 🙂

As I just inherited a printer from a friend and I had a fairly simple computer need but still with its challenges. Rob in the computer department couldn't have been more helpful. Within 30 minutes I was back home and connected the printer and knocked out 4 documents in minutes. Called back to speak to Kevin and he was the one who suggested that if I could write the same positivity that I shared with him on a review. So hear it is!
I prefer to shop local whenever possible to keep our local businesses financially buoyant but I still price compare. The printing cartridges I purchased were within 5 per cent of Staples which is over a half an hour away one way. Awesome result.

Went in before Christmas to have my computer looked at. Had to call myself to see if they had looked at it.
Cost me $168.00 and had to take it back to fix a problem that wasn’t there before I took it in. The technician who worked on it wasn't there when I took it back the first time and was not getting any help from the guy who was working that day. I went back and few days later and the tech guy who did work on it wasn’t very friendly and although he fixed the problem he seemed annoyed that I was bringing it back.
My computer is about seven years old and I find it very slow even after they worked on it so I went back to see if I could buy a new one. Couldn’t get anyone to help with my purchase so after 10 minutes of waiting I went to Best Buy and bought a new computer.Perhaps some basic training on customer service would help them .
