The DJ course at NVMA is a wicked fun, and supportive environment to learn and grow.

From this course, I gained an unshakable understanding of the fundamentals of DJing and the confidence to put them into practice.

Each lesson gave me a digestible serving of rich information, along with an understanding of why, not just what. The teacher was aware of each students individual experience and aspirations. She made sure we all had what we needed to make the most out of the 6 weeks.

The NVMA DJ course is so much more than just a curriculum. My time there was truly magical!

Are you Serious!!! Who would have thought going back to school could be so much fun! This school is such a privilege to have for artists and community building! I took the beginner DJ program and currently enrolled in the ongoing Music Production Level 1,2,3. This place was a no brainer for me to sign up, seeing that they had covered all basic foundations and more that one can ask for in order to practically start and get into making and playing music. Our class was so diverse in tastes and style and our instructor and a local performing artist herself; DJ Yelrihs, covered all grounds to get us started and prepared us with such a supportive and encouraging environment. Not to forget the batchmates I have ended up meeting, where we feel like having made our own unique culture and scene to have fun within and beyond! Whether you want to bring your A game, or simply enter an experience of the bliss of music & culture, this place is very inclusive & adaptable to one's needs. And the option to attend from Zoom, Class notes, included high quality songs, product rental & discounts, along with office time before class; with all this leading to gradually building one's confidence towards finishing off with a performance in a professional club setting, with of course a beautifully curated A/V experience from their experienced Sound Tech. & live lighting control (who operate their sound company, are constantly envisioning the coolest festivals & events culture - we had Triggs himself; from the Umbral Sound System; who was so inspiring and supportive to answer all my nerdy curiosities about his side of the setup, and the details that go into such an intricate job, which all teams up to add that magic sauce to the artist's performance; effortlessly immersing you into the beauty of that whole ambiance) ,...oh, and wait there's more ......also added in: an hour of private session to polish your performance, other details, etc... What more can one ask for!!!
The team here has really prepped & thought through the details, and are constantly evolving with the times.
Even if one knows nothing about music, I would still recommend this school; even more so...as their understanding of concepts is based in reality and simplified, you'll be encouraged to discover your own unique path!

I truly wish the best for this team & the school to prosper throughout the milky way & beyond, and continue developing our Artists!!

P.S.: I discovered this place through Google ads! who would have thought, one could find such a gem through an online banner ad on a youtube tutorial video. The future is hereeee!!!

Professionals who genuinely care about the small details and perfecting the music crafts both in the technical and creative side. Great equipment and even better engineers. Fantastic and deep comprehensive production school. Get at these guys for anything from mixing, recording, productions and lessons! Jake is a wizard and between him and matt they have a wide variety and range for any genre and style you need!

All I needed was a lil self lesson on club standard equipment and with no access I asked NVMA. They provided a welcoming environment for me to explore the equipment on my own terms and we're happy to answer any and all questions I had. 12/10 recommend to all my DJ friends 😁

The NVMA is a hidden gem in Edmonton. Jake’s instruction and course offerings are thorough and to the point. He really shows you how to get the most out of Ableton and to utilize all the tools packed in this amazing piece of software. The NVMA is also a great opportunity to gain mentorship from people who are actively working in the scene and releasing music. I’m grateful this school exists and would encourage anyone with an interest in electronic music to sign up and show up. The environment inclusive, positive, and supportive, and they also offer online courses for those days you just can’t make it in person. An incredible learning experience for anybody that loves electronic music and wants to know how to make it. The courses are very well structured and professionally instructed by industry pro, Jake Robertz. You will learn key music making knowledge at the perfect pace and in an effective order. I highly recommend signing up for Level 1 and starting you musical journey with NVMA.

Took Music Production Level 1 with no prior experience at all because I wanted to learn the most efficient way to make music from the start. Jake's curriculum is extremely well-structured and he is a great teacher! Admittedly I also underestimated the stamina required for music production, so I recommend taking this course if you already have a bit of experience making your own music and know that you are passionate about it. 10/10 for the instruction quality regardless.
