Pour moi ce lieu est capital dans ma vie, j'ai vécu à la mission dans les années soixante et j'ai toujours la nostalgie de ce coin de Paradis. Aujourd'hui je vis très loin mais je suis reconnaissant au gouvernement canadien de faire perdurer la mémoire d'un lieu qui a été pour de nombreuses personnes un socle et un repère pour nos vies, merci,

Went here for a tour (the longer version) and it was an experience. The grounds has numerous old buildings/museums that have been maintained quite well. I learned a lot about the history of residential schools in the Lac la Biche area. In the main building they even have a small gift shop and icecream to stay refreshed on hot days.

My first time to the Mission and it turned out to be a 2 hour journey to the past led by a local guide Mr. Ladoceur who had personal connections to this place. Funny and sad stories. My husband discovered pictures of an ancestor - Prudens. Such a vast history and timeline that spoke about the importance of the Metis, FN cultures, the dominance of the Catholic Church and the prevailing spirit of the voyageur and pioneer spirit. Take the tour, one will only get half the story and access to buildings if one wanders on their own.

I have been going to/lived in Lac La Biche for most of life and I finally made it to the LLB Mission last summer (Aug 2019). It is an historical site maintained mainly by a dedicated group of volunteers.

Take a tour and you will be lead through many buildings and learn about what life was like at the mission and the role the mission played in the settlement and establishment of the town of Lac La Biche.

If you have roots in Lac La Biche and want to learn more, they have an excellent genealogy and many old photographs.

The gift shop is awesome as well.

The guided tour was very inexpensive, the young man who took us on a tour, was quite nice, and was knowledgeable about the building you visited, some where a bit of a challenge to walk to, using a walker. One building in particular was very beautiful, but again a little challenging if you have mobility issues...all the buildings were very nice, I especially liked the church all the statues and the alter were absolutely gorgeous...I would certainly recommend visiting there.
