Langara Film Arts is such a special program. It really prepares you for the film industry. The program is intensive so it does take your full attention, but so worth it if you're serious about finding a career in film. The instructors are all amazing and the the projects are so fun and collaborative. No matter what stream you are in you get to try all the different roles! They put you in contact with many different professionals in the industry and are your biggest supporters even after you graduate. Highly recommend.

The Langara Film Arts writing stream changed the way I fundamentally think about screenwriting and made me want to pursue a career in it. The teacher, Ryan, is fantastic and will give you priceless, thoughtful feedback on your writing. Couldn't think of a better program for the price. The Film Arts Program at Langara is a great investment for those wanting to find out if they belong on a film set or not. Highly recommend the program as you truly get hands on experience producing two short films, trying out different roles on set, Acting/Directing/Writing (dependent on which stream you apply to).

I graduated from the Writing Stream in August 2023. I can wholeheartedly recommend taking this program if you’re at all interested in film or screenwriting. The information and friends you get is invaluable to both your career and life.
The teachers are eager to share the information they’ve gained through their own career and always available to help. The head of the department will stand behind you, helping you navigate your career both while in school and post. That said, all of this could be said of all the teachers.
I have zero regrets attending Film Arts and am thrilled to be a part of the community of alumni it has.

I am an alumni from the FilmArts department of Langara college, I have studied in Toronto for a year as well but I can guarantee there is not a single program in Canada except Langara film Arts, that will produce 22-24 short films in 8 months excluding smaller personal projects and assignments. And we all work on all of the films.
Each director gets to direct atleast 2 films every year and each actor gets atleast 2 films with lead roles but there can be more.

This is the most fun, collaborative and intense program I've seen.
It's a beautiful blend of writing, acting and Directing stream where the lines are sometimes defined but sometimes extremely blurred and we get to learn a lot from each stream.
You'll have the best faculty who will guide you in personal and professional life equally.

If you're interested in filmmaking I have no better place to suggest you to learn it from.
These are my genuine feelings about the program. Amazing community, amazing structure, amazing support and amazing program.

For anyone looking to get started in the world of film and television, the Langara College 8-month Film Arts program is ideal. It is intensive, comprehensive and reasonably priced.
As its main focus is the collaboration between departments, it allows you to specialize in writing, directing or acting while presenting you with a complete and realistic idea of the different phases of the creation of a film and preparing you for professional insertion in the industry.
