We spend five days in this cozy cabin ("the Studio") and had such a lovely time. The cabin is a true architectural gem, and anyone who appreciates West Coast design will love the place. Tons of large windows and natural light, wooden beams, custom wood cabinets, clawfoot tub and open loft bedroom. There are lots of books and games to keep you busy and the cabin is close to several beaches. The inn keepers were very helpful and friendly, but also provided lots of privacy. We were warned about water consumption, which is standard on Hornby. This property has tons of excellent reviews on airbnb so I was not detered by the couple of so-so reviews here (there was no issue with the bathroom, although I will mention that we've visited other places on Hornby with compost toilets and sulphur water, so this place was 5 stars comparatively!). I definitely recommend this place and I look forward to returning next summer.

We stayed in the cottage, which is one of Hornby's architectural gems - wood beams everywhere, open spaces, wood burning fire place, clawfoot tub and high ceilings. The hosts were so welcoming and gave us total privacy. ||There were fresh flowers, local granola and soap, and other special touches that made it feel very welcoming and special. ||We spent most of our time visiting on the back deck area, enjoying the full sun and BBQ. ||The property is located just up the street from Middle Bay, the beach right next to Whaling Station which is one of Hornby's best beaches.||We are already planning our next trip for next summer.

Suzanna and Giff let one room in their house for bed and breakfast - the Green Room. Their house is really unusual, set back in the forest with lots of curved walls and full of art and ceramics. The Green Room is upstairs, with windows in a curved wall and the bathroom is separate just down the hall. The room is a good size and has a rustic feel, with a very high wooden bed that is a standard double size. There is no TV or hairdryer and you have to be relaxed about a few cobwebs in the room. As the house is in the forest, it can feel abit dark and as the weather was so wet before and during our stay, the room felt a bit damp. Like everywhere on Hornby, water is in short supply, so you are asked to be careful with it and only use what you really need. Suzanna and Giff are very friendly and welcoming and are happy to chat about Hornby over breakfast in their kitchen. The food at breakfast was fresh and cooked as we waited and included fruit and nice home made preserves. The B&B is in a good location, just a short drive from places to eat and great beaches. ||||This is a typical Hornby Island home - rustic and laid back with friendly hosts. It is very good value for money but will not suit anyone looking for a luxury holiday.

We spent a week at the Studio b&b cabin and it was the perfect retreat that we were looking for. The place has the perfect location - just a block from the ocean front, and is super cozy and private. The hostess was very respectful of our privacy and left so many special touches to make us feel welcome and enjoy our stay. We loved the architecture of the places (so many windows and beams) - we will definitely return!

Lovely little cottage with lots of artistic elements and character. Ideal location, just a short walk from Whaling Station bay and a smaller beach nearby. You can also walk to the magnificent Helliwell Park. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. A true "Hornby vibe" with lots of wood and windows and cool loft bedroom. Plus a mini claw foot tub 🙂 This is a great place for a couple, or small family with children. The cottage is connected to the house by a walkway, but is completely private with its own entrance and back patio. A great place to relax and soak up some island time.

Nice self contained suite with bright loft bedroom. Great base to explore Hornby, all while getting a taste of the local Hornby vibe. Great hosts, cool architecture and amazing location - just minutes from the beach. Highly recommended.

We planned to stay on Hornby for three nights but were sadly disappointed and left after only one night. We were greeted by a welcoming host and a funky house.The one room you have access to is is the bedroom. One double bed which lacked a top sheet was accompanied by a broken light and felt dark and damp as the previous review mentioned.The bathroom was less than desirable. Hairs from a previous shave covered the sink while cobwebs and gigantic spiders were in every corner. Due to water conservation there was a sign saying "we never flush for number one". We are pretty easy going travellers but do like general cleanliness and the opportunity to shower and feel comfortable in our accomodation. Gentle negative feedback was viewed as a reprimand and a very unfriendly email awaited us at home. Would not go back.

We were on Hornby Island last summer with our kids and rented the studio adjoining the main house. The kitchen was well equipped, which was great because we were usually too tired at night after a day at the beach to go out to eat. The place is eclectically furnished, and there are many old novels and books to read in the upstairs loft, should the weather be rainy.||||The biggest problem we had with the place was the stench from the bathroom. Apparently males with really bad aim had been peeing in there for years, and the old cracked linoleum had been soaking it up the whole time. The stench was awful. And the bathroom was right by the kitchen, so it was difficult to eat with the smell coming out of there, even with the door kept closed. It was gag worthy. And really unsanitary to be preparing meals next to what effectively is an outhouse.||||The owners must be able to smell the stench, they just don't want to pay the small expense of replacing the small 5x8 (at most) piece of linoleum in there with something new.||||Too bad, because otherwise the place would be fine.
