After our initial searches for a custom home builder where we had dealt with 2 frustrating companies who could not provide proper estimates and were not willing to work with us as a custom home builder, we ended up walking into HRD's show home and absolutely loved their show home. The meticulous designs, choices of colors and finishes and the way they welcomed us, we knew this was going to be the builder for us.

Through the process Rob and Lindsay worked with us very closely, they were there to answer any questions we had and supported us 100% through the build. Rob offered excellent suggestions that only improved upon the build of our home, and I could not have imagined building our acreage with any other builder after the positive experience we had.

Not only did they have a reasonable build time for the home, from the first dig to our move in date was only 6 months!! They finished the build 2.5 months early and at our move in date, there were no imperfections or outstanding items that we had to follow up on.

We have been in our home for almost 2 years now, and have not had any maintenance items come up, the design and attention to detail in the build process was fantastic. The build quality is absolutely outstanding, job well done HRD.

We are looking forward to developing our basement with HRD in the next year. Rob and Lindsay and the HRD team are excellent, and you would not regret building your home with HRD.

After deciding to sell our current home and build our custom dream home, me and my wife did lots of research on potential builders, we both agreed on HRD.
It just happened that They were building a custom house down the street from us and we got to see the progress day to day and all the little extras that they were doing over the some of the current builders in the area that’s what made us choose them
From day one of designing and planning to the actual start of the building they were great to deal with they took our plans and ideas and built our dream home. In the first meeting My wife showed up with a piece of paper sketched with the layout of our house and what we wanted, plus pictures of different houses and the designs we like they took all this into consideration to the designer, and had it designed into plans.
Rob and Lindsay, the owners of HRD are absolutely amazing people to deal with. They really stand behind their product.

During the design process and picking all the trims and finishes their team was amazing to deal with They didn’t push anything and let us pick everything that we wanted. Even if they didn’t have vendors for it, they would go out of their way to find it just to make it ours.
Like every custom build things change, sometimes halfway through framing. no question they made it happen to make this our custom house. It’s also very cool that they have an app that they put updates on Daily to see the progress of your house and what’s happening in it was kind of cool to see the whole process as it gets built

One thing I will stress to everyone reading this is HRD stands behind their product. Their warranty is amazing they fix any problems no questions asked Mike their warranty guy even fix stuff that we didn’t see. As long as you use the app and enter warranty items it gets taken care of

Also, I will say this after dealing with our personal bank and getting a builders Mortgage with them and all the problems that we had doing this if I could go back and do it all over I would have listen to Rob the owner of HRD he recommended a mortgage person that he has a relationship with on building houses, I would 100% use his people to get it done so there is no issues and hold ups

In addition, we thought it was pretty great to meet with the company's actual owners when designing our floor plan and making selections. The entire team at HRD made us feel very comfortable, involved, and well attended to throughout the whole home-building experience. We met with several builders and decided on HRD because we were drawn to their personal yet professional way of business. Plus, they build beautiful, unique homes; no big box builders or cookie-cutter homes here! After living in our beautiful home for a few months, it is clear to our family that HRD takes pride in the quality of their craft.

My wife and I have been in several of the homes that have been designed and built by HRD. All the homes are of great quality construction with innovative ideas and well thought out planning. In talking to clients of theirs they were easy to work with and the projects managers were quite helpful when dealing with any issues that came up during their builds. The owners are quite straighforward and honest during planning and construction phases encouraging personal input from the clients. My wife and I have already discussed that if the occasion arises to do another stick built home then this is the company we will happily choose.

We have custom built 3 times previously & swore we would never do it again! After shopping around, we found HRD & presented them with a hand made drawing of our future dream home.

They made our custom home a reality & worked with our budget in a very timely manner. Robert, the owner, was very accommodating & invested in building us the house we wanted. Our site manager, Corey, was exceptional & very accessible & caring. Janaye was always available for any questions, consultations & product selection appointments. Janaye was always prompt with replies, suggestions & great with managing any concerns.

We have been in our forever home for a year now & love it every single day. It is a dream to wake up in & walk into after our long days at work. Any issues or fixes needed have been acknowledged & repaired promptly.

The quality & finishes are excellent & beautiful. We highly recommend HRD, they have been a great company to work with.

Our experience with HRD has been horrible; filled with empty promises, amazingly difficult communication, and a lack of integrity, ethics, and morals that we didn’t expect in a “custom” home builder.
We started noticing very obvious concerns during the building process. We were concerned with the state of the subfloor, as both main floor and 2nd story had a lot of flex, movement, and noise. After telling them, HRD’s response was “we don’t micromanage our trades” and “the flooring crew will make sure it’s secure”. We watched as different trades were somehow using the wrong building plans, putting things in the wrong places. We had to tell HRD that several kitchen cabinets that were ordered and installed were wrong. Without telling us, HRD outright forgot to run water lines under our foundation before pouring the concrete for the basement floor. They then drilled a hole through the foundation wall to bring our water line inside and along the base of the basement wall into the mechanical room. When we asked about this, we received 2 very different responses from different HRD staff as to why and how this oversight occurred. We had asked for our reverse osmosis water system to be installed at about 4 feet off the floor in our mechanical room and they installed it down near the floor.
Immediately after possession, we noticed squeaking and clicking in our main floor flooring and noises in the 2nd floor subfloor. Our staircases squeaked and creaked. Our finishing work (paint lines, caulking…) was not in a presentable and expected fashion. Doors weren’t closing as they should. They missed a large spot of insulation in the attic above our main bedroom. We discovered that 3 out of 5 permits with the County were still open and not signed off; HRD was unaware. When brought to HRD’s attention, they blamed the County, not seeing their responsibility. Spec document items and materials were changed without telling us.
HRD leadership came out on in March 2022 at our request and met with us. They were “embarrassed” by the flooring issue and said the water system looked horrible. They conceded that our home build did not have enough supervision, and that communication was horrible.. They promised we had the full support of HRD and they would work to make things right.
HRD came back, ripped up our main floor flooring and discovered the subfloor was flexing and not properly secured, just as we told them. HRD spent several hours securing and screwing the subfloor and reinstalled new and different flooring. And now the new flooring is coming apart at the joints, again. Since they used the same baseboards, the seams and corners are rough and not like-new.
We jointly agreed in the construction phase to hold off on the exterior concrete work to allow settling, and pour it in the spring/early summer of 2023. Long story, short; HRD never bothered coming by when the work was being done, and failed to properly supervise the contractor. We ended up with concrete splatter on our brand new house. We have a garage pad that is not according to plans, with it being 4 inches narrow in width. Broom finish marks go different ways. They wouldn’t even come and take off the front steps, instead telling us just lift them up and shove concrete under them.
Our experience and opinion is that they have no integrity, use every excuse in the book, and do not stand by their product. Our 2nd floor has not been fixed, over 1.5 years later. Concrete splatter is still on the house. These items were logged many times during the first year warranty period. HRD refuses to correct the issues. They also want us to pay to correct the water system location.
In dealing with HRD, our experience is that they like to bully their way through things. When you call them out on issues and concerns, the aggressive defensive postering begins. Even after conceding to us a lack of supervision and a promise to correct everything, they broke that promise.
