We recently had a 11.25 kW solar system installed by Hakai and couldn't be happier. From start to finish the process was very smooth, and everyone very friendly and accommodating. Update Nov/23: After the first year I am very happy to report that the system is working perfectly! The Hakai proposal estimated that our annual production would be 13,666 kWh whereas our actual production was 13,803 kWh. Based on these numbers our production has offset over 73% of our energy use. We highly recommend the Hakai team!
Our experience with Hakai was extremely positive. From Nick who came to provide the onsite survey, to Claire and Rob in the office our questions were answered with patience and clarity. We decided on a 11.7kW rooftop array for our house. The entire installation crew was courteous, friendly and professional. They took the time to explain what each day's plan was and answer any questions we had. The Hakai staff guided us through the current grant process and took care of permits and the contractor portion of the BC Hydro grid interconnect application. We have only had the system live for a few weeks and even with all the grey days our consumption from the grid has dropped significantly. Can't wait to see what it looks like when the sun comes to stay and our array is exporting energy to the grid.
The only advice I have for anyone getting a residential solar system is to speak with your house insurance broker to be sure your current policy is adequate. Some companies require photos once the system is installed etc.

Hakai Energy Solutions have recently completed a 9.48 kw (28 panel) rooftop solar installation on our home in Nanoose Bay. In researching available systems, we contacted several other solar companies, who, after site visits, provided us with a range of options and prices. We chose to work with Hakai as Nick gave us the most comprehensive plan with the most quality components at the best price. Furthermore, Hakai worked closely with us in a months-long process to comply with new local regional district requirements regarding solar. The installation crew arrived and worked efficiently and took the time to explain the system layout and operation. After the install we received comprehensive support which included multiple contacts and an additional site visit to connect our system to the grid and bring us online. What a great company to work with! We had a solar system installed on the roof of our home. The Hakai team of installers were pleasant and friendly, everyone was on time and the job went very smoothly. Communication was great, they kept us informed of the process and timelines, so there were no surprises. We were on a tight timeline, as we were going away, and they even checked our system on the weekend to make sure all was well before we left. We have been running for over 3 months now and the system is working great. They were able to help us through the current rebate process as well. Hakai was Amazing. Jason is super easy to work with, he explained and answered all.my questions
The crew was awesome, they even cleaned out my eve troughs while they were on my roof installing the solar panels. So I used them again to install my truck charger! Highly recommend Hakai. So much so that this is my first review as I don't bother with these kinds of things!
