I hit the jackpot when I contacted Sarah at Forest and Waves Yoga Studio and scheduled a 4-day private retreat. It exceeded all expectations - the studio is gorgeous, the yoga classes were led by awesome instructors, had a surfing lesson, and even went paddling in the beautiful Clayoquot Sound. All of it arranged by Sarah. An unbelievable experience. Sarah was THE BEST host and guide and made my time in Tofino even more special and memorable.

I have taught and practiced here for over ten years and although the name has changed, we are the same on the inside and perhaps even more resilient. The team is highly skilled and experienced. The offerings reflect the seasons, respect its commitment to Tribal Parks Allies and embrace the tradition and roots of yoga.

So relaxing and the instructors are all great. Sarah is an excellent teacher as she gives you alternatives to things that you can’t quite do and makes you feel comfortable. As the long-standing owner of Tofino Yoga (tofinoyoga.com) a community-rooted yoga education and retreat business established over 10 years ago, it is deeply unfortunate that we feel compelled to share this experience.

In 2024, Sarah Walton purchased the previously well-regarded Coastal Bliss studio and swiftly rebranded it using a name that infringes on our trademarked business: Tofino Yoga. However, our concerns extend beyond intellectual property rights.

Over the past year, we have been subjected to ongoing harassment by Ms. Wolton culminating in her criminal arrest and formal charges related to harassment. While the justice system has limitations in fully addressing this type of business interference, the experience has taken a significant toll—personally, professionally, and emotionally.

We are sharing this not out of malice, but out of responsibility. Ms. Wolton has a documented history of litigation in the Supreme Court and a pattern of troubling behaviour that is a matter of public record.

We urge prospective yoga students and teachers to choose mindfully when selecting a yoga studio in Tofino. The difference between a genuine, heart-led practice and one driven by opportunism matters—not only for the integrity of yoga but for the well-being of our community.
