I don't usually write reviews before I've left the establishment, but this one was bad enough to inspire this review on my very first night (August 8-9, 2025). I have included photos to corroborate this review.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would feel like to sleep inside a neglected 1980s sitcom set that’s been lightly marinated in mildew and cigarette smoke, the Swift Current Days Inn delivers in spades. The moment I opened the door, I was greeted by a smell that can only be described as “damp basement meets gas station ashtray.”

The carpets are a living history exhibit, threadbare, sagging in places, and gouged like they lost a bar fight with a furniture dolly. The vacuum clearly gave up at the edges years ago. It's hard to tell what decade spat forth this carpet, but I suspect even the hotel staff no longer remembers... or even cares. It was sufficiently bubbled and bunched enough to pose a serious tripping hazard to anybody with accessibility issues, as was our case.

The bathroom is an homage to bad caulking and ancient linoleum, so tiny you could brush your teeth while sitting on the toilet (not that you’d want to linger there). The kitchenette was more crime scene than convenience, featuring a sink with leftover food bits and the unsettling ghost of someone’s coffee.

As for the fridge - it emits a bologna-scented warning not to open it, like a cursed artifact from a vengeful civilization, best left untouched.

While I think the bed linens and towels were fresh (the one act of kindness from the housekeeping staff), it’s hard to be sure when the room still stinks of old smoke and broken promises.

We'd have gone somewhere else but it was 10:00 PM and we'd been driving all day. At the time of writing, I was dreading the complimentary breakfast because I figured that if it was anything like the room, it would be more of an insult than a compliment. I was wrong - the food was okay, though on a scale of Good to Insult, I'd rate the eggs as Light Mockery.

Luckily, we managed to get a refund and booked into a different hotel. When we went to the front desk for our refund and to check out, Carol did not seem at all motivated to retain our business. If indifference were an Olympic sport, she’d be bringing home the gold.

All in all, if your travel plans include a longing for nostalgia, grime, and olfactory punishment, this place is for you.

If not - run. We certainly did.

If I could give zero stars I would. This hotel is super overpriced. The rooms are dirty and there were bed bugs. There were a few of us here for work and we all had problems. In my room the toilet was leaking water all over the bathroom floor and the sink was clogged, the bed frame was broken and the mattress was really worn in where you only sink to the middle, the room smelt musty and the towels were damp when I arrived, the carpets in the room had never been cleaned and there were so many crumbs/old food on the couch. We were here for work and checked out 7 days early because one of the rooms we were in had bed bugs- the manager said he would "check it out" and that was all that was acknowledged. The room with bed bugs was still charged full price.

We broke down in Swift Current travelling across Canada and the folks here were helpful and welcoming. Big shout out to Carole who went above and beyond to make things work for us, and the guy (who I sadly didn’t get his name) who runs the continental breakfast who took such care of their full platter breakfast! The pool was great and everything was so clean and cared for despite being an older building. Swift Current was such a treat to stop in after such unfortunate vehicle troubles!

Great location, very friendly and helpful staff but the place is very run down and in desperate need of an overhaul. We had a suite- was spacious but didn’t feel clean, the sofas had an odour, the vents were filthy, and the bathroom floor was mouldy. The pool is in need of a new liner or painting, hot tub had no jets so was designated a soaker tub, and then a jacuzzi tub in a separate room was slightly weird and felt like it was cheaper than fixing the hot tub by the pool. The sauna was great. Good enough for one night stay, but wouldn’t stay longer than that and absolutely not worth the 180.00 per night paid.
