The experience we had with the curve team was truly disappointing. In their hands, our suite renovation turned from a fun little project into a nightmare .
We signed a contract with them in mid February to help with design and drawings for our 800 square foot suite renovation, which is a 20x40 rectange. Then our main house renovation was to follow after the suite was completed. We were told that their scope should be completed in 4-6 weeks. We paid them a sizeable deposit for the suite portion of the project.
After never really getting anything valuable from Curve, we had to fire them in October. Far beyond the 4-6 weeks.
The process:
We had a few preliminary design meetings and chose some of the design esthetics for our space. Then things truly ground to a HALT! After months of emails that were ignored and phone calls that were never responded to. We began to worry that we were put on the back burner. Especially because our deposit was already taken.
We had to try to contact them nearly daily to get any response.
When we finally got an email from Curve, it was from one of the designers who let us know that she was no longer working at curve.
More time passed as we were waiting for our drawings. When we eventually got our drawings, they were incredibly flawed. Our elevations were out by up to 2 FEET! The wall dimensions didn't work. The windows and doors wouldn't fit. Basically, the entire drawing package not usable.
Then came the design specs. I went to a cabinet maker with what I thought were our choices for our kitchen, only to find out our entire kitchen was BEIGE. Never in a million years would my partner or I decide to have an entirely beige kitchen. None of our design choices on our "vision board" were used. Also, every fixture was chrome. We despise chrome. We were deciding between brushed nickel and black. Somehow, the decision for chrome was made for us. We realized the interior design was 100 percent useless and that we would have to design everything ourselves because it was already so late in the game
These issues would have been easy to flag if we had received the 3D renderings from Curve, which was part of the initial scope, but we never did. Just like basically every other item on the scope list.
There were many times we brought up issues with our drawings and design. Each time we brought it up, the problems were never really fixed. Including window sizes and elevations. This part was incredibly difficult. It was a good thing our framer was amazing and could work with incredibly flawed plans.
When we did fire Curve, we were told by them that's it was understandable and that we did not receive the items on the scope and certainly not in the time frame we were initially were given.
We asked for a partial refund but the refund we were offered was not worth our time.
Needless to say, we will never be using Curve for any "services" again.
