This was my first ever pottery class. I loved it! Thomas is an amazing instructor. I never felt like I was falling behind or didn’t understand. The space is great, big and really well laid out. I created some really fun pieces and most important I had a blast creating them! I will be taking the beginner class again in the Fall! The first two pictures are newly glazed pieces that need to be fired. The last two are finished products.

Review for Create Art Studio on Danforth Avenue

I can’t recommend Create Art Studio enough! I’ve been looking for something productive to do on weekends, and this place has been a game-changer. I was hesitant about joining art classes because of the expensive art schools, but then I found Create Art Studio, and it’s been the best decision ever.

Stu, one of the instructors, is incredible. He has the perfect balance of a great sense of humor, a deep understanding of colors, and a genuinely kind and supportive teaching style. Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone looking to sharpen your skills, Stu makes learning enjoyable and accessible.

What I love most is how effective the classes are. Stu conducts both workshops and regular classes, and I’m enrolled in both. I’ve struggled with watercolor for years, but within just 2–3 weeks of joining Create Art Studio, I’ve seen remarkable improvement in my skills. I’ve been amazed at how much I’ve learned in such a short time—and how fun the process has been!

Big kudos to Create Art Studio and Stu for creating such a welcoming and inspiring environment. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate—this place is worth every penny.

What an amazing experience! I was not quite convinced at first that we could pull this off....a multi-panel painting, in just two hours, with 20 colleagues at the office? HOW?! But Stu came in with everything ready to go, paints, prepped canvases, brushes...right down to the aprons! His calm and friendly demeanour and can-do attitude instantly set us all at ease. Before we knew it, we had teamed up and created something truly remarkable....some folks had never painted before and swore they didn't have an artistic bone in their body, but you wouldn't know it by the results! Highly recommend Create Art Studio for an event like this, if you want to go larger or smaller, they can accommodate! Stu, you are a star, keep on keepin' on and we can't wait to have you back to do this again next year! 🙂

The day-of - in short - the experience was phenomenal.

We set out to create some pottery pieces for each individual.

As we collectively learned the craft for the first time, the instructor patiently and joyfully participated in assisting, nurturing, and even recovering our pieces.

They made a point to ensure that everyone had something to take home with them - and that they had a blast time doing it in the meanwhile.

Fantastic studio with a great variety of courses.
Took Hand Building with Thomas and had such a fantastic time building a mix of pieces based on different techniques. This is a great studio that values creativity and fun in a low stress environment.

Thomas is an awesome teacher - you can always adapt the techniques to build a piece that suits you. He is super fun, caring and is even one of the competitors on CBC's Great Canadian Pottery Throwdown!

Sewing classes with Claire were amazing! She is the best instructor. Claire made the classes fun but also drilled the important techniques of hand and machine sewing. You’ll do multiple projects over the class and walk away with confidence in a new skill. Highly recommend!

Such an amazing local studio! I’ve done a handful of different classes and workshops, and they’ve all been awesome. They have loads of options, from acrylics to digital art to pottery - I wish I had more time to try more!

Paint club is a great way to “find time to paint”. It’s unstructured (everyone works on their own projects), and it’s a great option if you want to work on your own stuff in the company of others - and Stu’s incredibly helpful and constantly giving tips and ideas if you want support. Great vibe.

The multi week classes are also SO good. A great mix of technical and practical (mostly practical), and you walk away with a handful of pieces.

I also love that they have one-session workshops, as they’re perfect when you can’t commit to a 6 week program.

Drop-in ceramic painting on the weekends is awesome for the kids - a great rainy day activity.

Everyone is super friendly, helpful and the space is bright and welcoming. Highly recommend 🙂
