Very friendly and knowledgeable staff with a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. If you prefer fine detail, bring your own brushes as theirs are well used. Lots of different items at different price points available to choose from. No AC so it can get a little hot inside in the Summer. They only take cash or eTransfer

Olivia was so helpful, friendly, and kind! They answered all of our questions, had great advice to make our pieces turn out their best, and knew the process super well from start to finish. On top of that, they were super sweet and encouraging the whole time while very professionally balancing the frequent phone calls and bustle of getting finished objects all ready for others to pick up. We had a fantastic time, and our items turned out great. I was even able to pick up my pasta bowl after just 6 days, ahead of the projected 7-10 days wait. Painting surfaces were well-spaced and tidy, and there were plenty of objects, paint, and tools to choose from. I would definitely recommend this location 🙂

The girls and I went for the Sip and Paint night last night and had a fabulous time. We actually ran out of time and came back the following day to finish up our projects and booked another Sip and Paint night for next month. It looks like this may become a new girls night routine as the ladies were so friendly and welcoming and we just had so much fun. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun night out 👍👍👍

I really wanted to enjoy my time at Crankpots, but unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired.

Outdated and inconvenient payment options
They only accept cash or e-transfer, which is incredibly inconvenient—especially when most places today allow debit and credit. When I asked about other options, the staff were condescending and dismissive, which just added to the frustration.

Disappointing final product
After glazing and firing, my piece came back with random splotches and marks that completely ruined the look. I’ve had this happen more than once, and for the prices they charge (plus a mandatory studio fee surcharge), the quality just doesn’t match up.

Terrible communication
What’s worse is their pickup process—you’re required to call to see if your piece is ready, and they often don’t answer or place you on hold with attitude. I once spent nearly an hour and a half driving there only to be told my piece wasn’t ready. A simple callback or text (like most other studios do) would’ve saved me so much time and gas.

Better options elsewhere
There are several painting studios in Edmonton that are far more organized, don’t charge a studio fee, offer better payment options, and communicate kindly and clearly. Crankpots could be a fantastic space, but the way it’s currently run makes it more frustrating than fun. I won’t be returning.

What an amazing experience! First time painting ceramics, and it was so much fun! It took longer because I chose a very big piece to paint. There is a huge selection of ceramics to choose from. You pick up the finished pieces 7-10 days after painting them. Cannot wait to see the final result! The staff were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place.

Had a wonderful time. A bit expensive but it was nice to sit down and paint for a couple hours. This place is small and gets busy. Best to call before going!!!

Found out about Crankpots through their “sale” on Groupon. Just for starters there literally is no sale or deal, on Groupon it says the ticket price is originally $55 and it’s on “sale” for $33 but you pay the price difference in store. Which is cash or etransfer only btw.

It is obviously an intentional effort for misleading advertising cause you can’t pick a $55 piece with the Groupon, and of course this isn’t explained to you until AFTER you’ve picked the piece you want to paint. On the first day me and my husband went the two workers there were not very knowledgeable about their cash register so it took about 10 minutes to pay for our pieces and the one girl training the new girl was constantly complaining about the owner and how many shifts she was getting. It would have been easy to ignore her if the complaining wasn’t nonstop.

On the second day we booked our appointment over the phone but when we arrived to paint at noon we were then told we would only have 2 hours to paint like ? tell me that when I book the appointment so I can choose a different day and not randomly get a time limit when I arrive.

Also the brushes make any type of detail work impossible and only after we finished, and another table was complaining about the brushes were we told by an employee that there was better brushes by the register that are available for use….okay but how could we have known that? I didn’t even initially see them.
If you don’t finish painting on the first day your piece goes in a random drawer around the room and you have to find yourself when you come back to complete. You have to make an appointment for literally everything and sometimes they just don’t answer the phone.
I liked how my mushroom house turned out but a medium sized piece chipped off the bottom
