Customer service like it used to be.

The friendly folks at this camera shop have been very accommodating in the past for my camera accessories, so when I needed a new digital camera I stopped in.

They had the camera that I wanted with the accessories that I needed in stock and ready to go. The head guy even set up the device and offered assistance if I need it in the future.

I am happy with my new camera and will very highly recommend Carman's.

A friend recommend we go see Ted at Carmen Cameras for framing, this stunning watercolour painting of our dog we wanted it to be well protected from anything. Ted helped out with the frame colour, double mats, and glass…so many choices. We noticed a mark on the frame done by the manufacturer after we picked up and so many reflections from the glass, we weren’t happy with the result, so went back the next day and talked to Ted, he replaced the glass with a higher UV non glare at no extra cost to us. So we definitely recommend this store, and we thank Ted for fixing the issue without extra cost.

Excellent service. I brought my old camera in and the salesman fixed it while I waited. It's only a temporary fix but very much appreciated. I just want to say "Thank You".

Dave’s Not Here

I ordered a print and wooden frame for my spouse's 60th birthday (Nov. 2020). A couple of months later it fell off the wall and the impact broke the wooden frame in several spots. On closer inspection, the hanger wire was only attached to the phelt back of the frame, not to the wood itself.

I took it back to Carman's and the male staff member was less than kind in making several bogus inferences about my intentions while also challenging when I bought it. I maintained that he knew who I was and when I made the sale (he sold it to me), what the gift meant and that he sold me a defective frame. I wanted it fixed but he was unwilling to do anything aside from trying to sell me the same frame in a different colour at regular price - I left the store instead.

Summer 2022, I took my business to another foto source franchise in Owen Sound. They provided a much better customer service experience. They actually fixed the original wooden frame and installed the hanger properly. I planned to pay but they made the fix FREE OF CHARGE.

I would not recommend Carman's Foto Source to anyone. Save yourself time and money by going somewhere else entirely.

Miracle workers! Had to get 12 certificates framed for an event in less than 3 business days, as per a last-minute request - Carman's pulled it off when all other framing businesses said it couldn't be done! The prices were fair and as noted, the service was incredible. Would highly recommend and will be our first choice for any future photo/framing needs.

I went to get passport photos—trying to support locally owned businesses. There’s no mirror to ensure that you look tidy before your picture, nor do you get to see it before it’s printed. I paid $22 and the photo they took was horrible. I had mascara smudged on my face from winter weather and they didn’t bother to advise me before the photo was taken.
Shoppers Drug Mart did a retake for me— 100 times better quality and customer service. Plus, they were at least friendly at Shoppers. I won’t be returning to this store.

Seemed like a good store for photography. Lots to look at, lots of frames, camera parts and accessories. Nice to have something like this local to Woodstock. To correct Murray Walz' review, there are other places in Woodstock to get your passport photo done. We do ours at Shoppers only a few blocks away from Carman's (While I can't vouch for Murray's story, Shoppers screwed up as well but re-took the photo for free.)
