The BBB is not a reliable source for finding trustworthy businesses. Their accreditation system is based on whether or not a company pays them, not on actual business performance or customer satisfaction. If a business does not pay, BBB highlights it in bold that the company is not accredited, which is misleading to consumers. Accreditation should be earned through honest business practices, not through payment.

A much better way to find a reputable business is to check Google Reviews or other platforms where real customers share their experiences. BBB feels outdated and not trustworthy in today’s world.

The BBB is old, and outdated. Google reviews are all you need to know about a company. It’s also free. The BBB charges businesses extortionate amounts of money to be a platform likely used by 80+ year old individuals. They also don’t listen and their poor review status and comments are all correct.

I am incredibly grateful for the support from BBB! After a company refused to honor the warranty, failed to provide a technical solution, and only offered an inadequate replacement product, I was at a loss. BBB handled my case within one business day and contacted the company. Thanks to their efforts, I received a full refund of the purchase price as well as a generous compensation.

Do not trust BBB ratings, because they sell their accreditation for money. The Industry Canada should remove their non-profit status. The BBB does nothing for consumer or small business protection. They just solicit money from businesses for their accreditation. I have a case with the BBB which was not responded for more than a month now, but the offending company still maintains their "A+" rating. I was naive enough to trust that BBB accreditation instead to look to other reviews on the internet, which are really bad. Even reviews on BBB site are negative, and yet their rating is intact, while my case sitting without a response. So much for a non-profit, consumer protection agency. Do not trust them, and do not do business with them. BTW, I got my money back when I threatened to sue that "A+" company. This means - forget BBB, fight your fight with with other means.

My family and I went to Toronto for a criminally court matter at 10 Armoury St
Toronto ON M7A 0B9 Canada we searched for a cheap public parking nearby the place and used hang tag parking app we planned to go and found this public parking place at Impark University Centre Parking Garage - Lot #227 located at 393 University Ave, Toronto, ON M5G 1E6.

On Monday parked and payed for our parking which expires at 10:21 am . According to the instructions posted close to the pay meter, we are not to display our receipt on our dashboard. So after paying, we just left the parking lot without putting the receipt on our dashboard.

Upon our return to the place at around 12:24 pm, we noted a parking notice 09F635234 clipped on our car's windshield stating that we have failed to display valid receipt on our dash board and no proof of payment and fined us 86.47 or $98.00 if paid within 7 days.

I have already paid for the payment for $22.50 off my credit card I am disputing this parking notice we have followed the instructions already given by the security guard working for Paragon Security.

Please kindly review the parking notice and invalid it as a one-time courtesy for parking to avoid getting a parking violation notice in the future it would be great. That would be greatly appreciate the customer's time and understanding.

I am willing to pay the original daily of $27 parking fee, however I am not willing to pay the $98 and do not believe I should have been sent to collections over this. If we can resolve this by paying I will accept that.

For reference, I've attached photos of the signage at the lot.

I’m really trying to understand the purpose of the BBB.
I had a terrible experience with a builder and did everything that I was supposed to do, contact the builder, file a claim with home warranty etc. After fighting with home warranty for nearly two years, it became evident that I was going to have to take a more direct approach with the builder. I put in a complaint with the BBB to make some sort of agreement with the builder. BBB denied my claim because it had been two years. However, the two-year statue of limitations that the BBB appears to be following stipulates that “discovery” occurs when one becomes aware that legal proceedings are the appropriate means to seek remedy. This “discovery” occurred when my dealings with home warranty ended. Now the BBB denies this complaint leading me to “make a review.”

I could post a review on their website, but this review (although true) could lead to the builder suing me for libel. This seems likely given the behaviour of the developer (the reason I put a complaint into the BBB to begin with!) Even though I am in the right, that doesn’t prevent a multimillion-dollar developer with deep pockets to squash me with legal fees. I believe that every consumer should be aware that you can get sued for a BBB review. It seems that the BBB tends to lead people in this direction rather than mediation and or arbitration. My options now seem limited to legal bills and lawsuits.

Naturally, I am looking to put in a complaint against the BBB, but this doesn’t even seem possible. How ironic! My requests directly to the BBB to do so have been ignored. So, I will pose the question again, what is the purpose of the BBB? Not only do their policies not follow the very provincial legislation that they appear to be modelled after, but they don’t even hold themselves accountable to their own standards in respect to complaints. Seems like another organization masquerading as an advocate for consumer protection when in reality is a business with ulterior motives. Don’t waste your time.

Scam organization. Our experience with BBB has been a nightmare. As a company that helps businesses startup ourselves, it's a shame to see such organization like the BBB manipulating and lying to customers. This office, Vancouver location is a total scam and operated by fraudsters.

Being trustworthy in businesses and resolving any disputes is important. I am honoured to be an accredited BBB member and have used the dispute resolution process as a consumer in the past. More consumers should use the BBB to find contractors. I like getting potential client lead.
