An incredibly musically talented colleague was soon retiring from the government and her friends and family were looking to bring to life a unique gift idea – a song recording of “Count on me”. Raven Street Studios was recommended by her son – an outstanding artist himself – and they helped bring our beautiful idea to life.

First and foremost Shannon, the owner of the studio – is charismatic and welcoming – from beginning to end. She puts everyone at ease as they walk through the door and is quick to ensure you have everything in place so that your session goes smoothly. In our case, we were over 25+ singing a choir type recording, many had never stepped into a studio much less knew what to expect. Shannon took the time to introduce herself to everyone, gave a good rundown on the studio’s history, walked us through the session and offered different ideas on how we could make our time there fun. Her dog lucky helped ease peoples nerves and the staff who were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful set the tone for a great evening.

The studio is in a word – amazing. From it’s rich history, to the many artists who have passed through it’s doors to the incredible equipment peppered throughout… there is no shortage of things to see, learn and marvel at.

Finally, the resulting recording was everything we had hoped it would be… and so much more. We sang, laughed, hugged and reminisced – it was a magical evening. Thank you Raven Street Studios for giving us the perfect place to both honor and celebrate a long, wonderful career… we all walked away feeling like we were a part of something special.

This year I enrolled in the Applied Audio Recording Program at TARA and will be graduating this September. I would recommend this program to anyone who has an interest in recording, production, mixing, or just generally loves music. The staff at Raven Street are very friendly and always willing to help you with your specifc needs in the studio. I learned so much this year and am now pursuing a career as a full time audio engineer. The studio is the perfect environment to grow as a musician and engineer. Shannon was super accommodating to my situation and has provided me with multiple opportunities to further myself in this industry. I cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for me. If you're interested in attending the program or are in need of a recording session, do not hesitate to get in touch with her. Attending the program was one of the best decision I have ever made!

The engineer (a recent graduate) used Vocal mics low caliber for some reason :s , but other than that good rooms, and we got really good stems to work with. Good working environment.

Fantastic assortment of gear. They also have what is probably one of the nicest live rooms in the city. And how do you NOT give 5 stars to the Ottawa studio that once hosted Snoop?
