Ever since my friend showed me this place it has been a second home to me. I love the idea that everyone is artistic and can be free to create beautiful work without criticizing. The staff are such nice people and I always feel welcomed to stay. I love this place but the location is a not the best place to be alone so always bring a friend

This is one of those 'best kept secrets' that shouldn't be so secret. This absolutely amazing little place is a genuine safe haven for creativity. Everyone is welcomed here, there is nothing to do but walk in and be embraced (or left alone!) as you wish by an amazing community of creatives. The only question they'll ask is your name.

Here, you can take on your creative side with endless options for the arts of all kinds - crafts, music, spoken and written word, gardening and more... if you can dream it - you can probably make it happen here.

This is a little corner of heaven that's found it's way to earth and staffed by absolutely amazing volunteers. Do yourself a favor and visit, or donate any supplies you may have. I wish more communities had places like this, and I can't wait for my next visit!

Courteous, friendly, safe and inclusive environment to grow and develope your creative spirit and improve your artistic skills. They have even branched out into writing and music workshops as well. The staff are all very passionate about the arts and about igniting that same fire inside everyone of us. It's one of Oshawa's hidden gems.

A beautiful hub for artists young and old! Amazing people, generous of spirit, propagating all walks of creators to work and display, or simply do. Great atmosphere in a small space. Always a pleasure to go!

I began going to the Living Room Community Art Studio when it was still a fledgling newcomer to Oshawa.
This city is in desperate need of privately funded projects as Oshawa City Council, our Mayor and the Region itself is entirely absorbed
with self-interest.
This free, community resource is integral to and a declaration of the health and vitality of a community. Given that art absolutely surrounds every fabric of our lives and declares so much about a society, it's values and it's use of the applications of art, this Studio can be said to be the very pulse of an otherwise dead, equality absent and general populace disinterest.
This Studio features every level of artist and is open to the public, free of charge (donations much appreciated). It is a place to learn, to emotionally heal through the medium of art, to socialize with good people, to utilize every material that came applied in making art and to come away richer for the experience and with the dignity and pride that comes with making artworks.
Music, literature, painting, sewing, and every other application of art all culminates at this wonderful, discreet, tucked away gem.
I have indulged in the arts for many years, but, to find a place of like minded individuals with so many facets of art and the richness in variety of art occurring here was the freshest breathe of air I have ingested in this dilapidated, overpriced, crime and poverty fraught city in waiting.
The fact that something so beneficial and necessary to the heartbeat of any community has to be privately funded, again, speaks volumes of this cities Council and Mayor, who are all enjoying their two month vacation having weird through another term indulging the well to do and looking only to benefit their fiscal and personal interests, the good of the city, as a whole, be damned.
If you have any interest in art, or, arts-based communities, The Living Room Community Art Studio should rank high on one's list of priorities.
From the clothes we wear, architecture, machinery, foods, autos, homes, road structures... absolutely everything is made by the fashion of art.
This integral, all-encompassing fabric of our lives is inescapably essential. Hence, the import of this community resource could never be overstated.
The staff is friendly, informative and adhere to an all inclusive, safe environment.
I have been a 'member' for years and can't imagine a time when it would no longer bear import, delight and personal enrichment to any art enthusiast of whatever calibre and tenor.
Drop in and see for yourself.
Currently open Thursday's to Saturday's from 9am to 6pm.
See you there and find your 'voice' through a warm, friendly, inspiring environment.
