It took us 3 months to finally get stuff repaired at our home after filming a Hollywood movie in June 2024! Of course, it also took us time to actually find the damages left behind. There's too much to describe! Yes, you get paid, but was it really worth it? Our neighbors informed us how rude the crew members were and that it was such a terrible experience for them with generators going on all night also telling children to be quiet while filming!
I asked the CEO of 1 Department to contact me directly and to meet with them to talk about it more than once going through the Ottawa Film Board with no avail! I just wanted him/her to understand what went wrong for future films in Ottawa!
We actually had 2 films done in our home in 6 months. I am very disappointed how we were treated, especially after the first film, and my relationship with some of the crew members that went so well! I felt that our home was very disrespectful this time! There was garbage everywhere, rotten food left in our fridge, paint chips on our walls in the living room, bedroom and kitchen, and also stapple holes in our bathroom, broken items that were hidden! There was damages to our flagstone walkway from heavy equipment and our cement wall in the driveway that they finally fixed to their standards. There were deep scratches on our kitchen hardwood oak floors that they offered to repair but that there was no guarantee on matching the rest of the floors. My husband and I were not willing to move out again after moving out for 20 days! It's very unfortunate that they were not willing to meet with us to learn what went wrong!
